How to turn a Tailgate Chair into a Tire Cover for your Tailgate

Tailgate chairs tend to break pretty easily… but before you toss your busted chair in the trash destined for a landfill, I recommend trying to find some alternative uses.

with just an exacto knife, 3 shoelaces, and an old bandana. Now I have a patriotic tire-cover and less junk in my garage. If you are interested in doing once of these yourself, here’s how I knotted things up:

Basic Instructions:

Cut the poles out of the chair material with your exacto knife, and pull the poles out.
Cut out the cup holder mesh.
Take your square bandana, and cut it in half; leaving you with 2 equal shaped pieces.
Roll the bandana pieces into cloth cigar shapes.
Arrange the chair material on your spare tire as shown in the picture.
Tie one bandana from the cup holder to the metal ring at the edge of the chair seat. Double-knot if possible.
Cut a small hole with your exacto knife in the other armrest, above the stitching so that it won’t tear out. Tie the other bandana through that hole and to the other metal ring at the edge of the chair seat. Double-knot if possible.
Tie one shoelace to each side of the tire, looping through the metal ring in the middle of the chair, through the metal ring in the top of the armrest, through the tailgate, through your bandana knot. Double-knot if possible.
Pull the top of the chair flat to the top of the tire. Poke two holes in the top of the chair back, and thread your last shoelace through those holes. Pull it tight, and tie each end of the shoelace to the tailgate to hold it tight and prevent the material from flying off of the tire while you drive.

Done and Done. Go Broncos!
